Spring Cleaning

Good morning Loves (now that it's noon)!  Happy Saturday!

Just want to say hello and good morning and happy day to you all!

It's a good one, I promise!

Two AMAZNG runs in the last 24 hours...

Beautiful cherry blossoms outside of my house...

AND, today my house will be getting the scrub down that it needs and deserves. What a little piggy!  Between the dust that blows around this town, and having two shedding animals, well, I'm pretty close to just selling and moving on.  Not really, but gross.

I hope you all are having super lovely weekends!

Stop by and tell me all about it!

Have an awesome day!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Today, March 29, my best boy EVER turned eight years old!  Happy birthday, Diesl!

I dare you...tell me he wasn't the cutest, fattest most adorable piece of fur you've ever seen!!  LOVE HIM!

This boy has been my BFF...hugged me when no one else was around, let me cry on him, awaken me from my weekend naps because he's bored, cuddles with me every single night...hence his name, Best. Boy. Ever!

Diesl Boy, mommy loves you.  Thank you for always being happy to see me...even on days when you get stuck inside longer than you should be.  :)

Have awesome days friends!

The Places I've Been

In this crazy little sunshine filled life of mine, there are some changes taking place.  The changes that have occurred so far have been extremely painful and difficult, but I continue to (force myself to) believe that they are leading me to a better place.

The Beginning...Antigua 2002

This life hasn't been an easy one, based on choices I've made, and choices made by others in my life.  At brain therapy on Monday, I asked my therapist to use her strobe-y light pen thingy on me (Men In Black style, ya know?) so that I could forget and just go on living a peaceful happy life.  She thought about it (really, she did), but then decided that I need to continue to learn from these experiences and keep moving forward with the knowledge I gain.  So not what I wanted to hear.

The Midpoint...Aruba 2007

But truth be told, I know she's right.  I know that each one of these experiences, good or bad, is teaching me.  Sometimes I just wish they could be a bit more gentle.  Clearly that is too much to ask for at times.

Good news though...I'm a fighter, and a learner, and I'm moving forward, one day at a time.

Summer Solstice 2011...a piece of the new life

And funny little side note...I opened this "new post" with the intent of writing something totally different, and this flowed from my fingers instead.  Interesting.  Guess I needed to get it out.  Thank you for letting me share with you!  :)

Have an awesome day!

Oh the Excitement, Part Dos!!

OK, mom knows, so I can share with the rest of you...

Yesterday, I bought a plane ticket...

One way!

I joke, I joke!!  It's a round trip ticket, I promise.  But YES!  In September, I will be flying to Barcelona and exploring Spain for two weeks.  I. Am. EXCITED!!!!

I've never been to Europe.

I've never traveled alone.

I've never bought a plane ticket without knowing the rest of the plan.

HOLY GOODNESS!  I'm going to SPAIN!  Anytime anyone walks into my office, I look at them with this crazy look, and they ask what's wrong, and I get all excited and tell them my story (it started out as a trip to Greece with my best friend and her Greek husband and their little daughter, but that trip has been postponed until next year.  I had mentioned going to Spain while in Greece and she encouraged me still to do it, so I AM!).

Barcelona, San Sabastian, Madrid...tapas, Spanish wine, markets, cafes, hostels (maybe...not sold on that one yet) people, new places...a whole new life adventure!  Have I mentioned that I'm slightly excited?!?!?

San Sebastian

So that's my big news!  I hope it's as exciting for you all as it for me!  I'm tempted to ask for the next six months (ONLY SIX MONTHS!) to go by quickly, but then I'd miss summer, and that would be a bummer, so I will just ask that time flies as quickly as it has the first three months of this year (can you believe March is almost over?) and we'll call it good!

Do you have any exciting vacation plans coming up?

Have an awesome day!

P.S.  I've linked up with a stylish little lady today.  Go say hi to Chandra and tell her I sent you!  :)

Oh the Excitement!!

Friends, I have super duper exciting news!!  Unfortunately, I can't share it with you yet.  I need to talk to my momma and let her know my super duper news or else I might lose my life.  Details.

Yeah, I know...that was really mean of me.  BUT it just means that you'll be back tomorrow to find out what my great news is, right?  RIGHT?!?!  OK, good.  Thanks!  :)

In the meantime, I have other exciting news.  I know, I know...who in the world could be so lucky as to have such a great MONDAY of all days?  Yeah, this chica right here [insert two thumbs pointing my way].  It happens.

Friends, I am the proud owner of this little gem...

Yep, a library card.  I don't even remember the last time I had a library card (non-school related).  At least a million years ago.'s orange and has a sunflower...happiness in my heart!  :)  It's the little things.

So that's what I've got for today.  OH!  The Monkey...for those concerned about the cat, he's thankfully back to his wild, obnoxious, holy terror of a self, racing around the house, beating up on the dog.  Yeah, I'd say he's feeling better.

I hope your Mondays were exceptionally fast and fabulous!  On to Tuesday!  :)

Have an awesome day!

Umm, Yeah, That Just Happened

So, as mentioned in this post, my laptop is a piece of crap.  OK, not entirely's just old (I won't even tell you how old) and apparently it's tired.  And testing my patience daily.

Due to these tests, I was a bit flustered as I began my journey into much so that I...umm...forgot the name of my blog.  Holy CRAP!  Are you kidding me???!?!?  I kid you not...sat here for a few seconds thinking, umm, what is that page again?  Craziness!!  Thankfully I found you!  And you found me! (Which I appreciate so very much every single day), so we're all good!  YEA!

Anyhoo, my dumb Monkey cat decided to hurt himself.  Poor baby!  He was a three legged kitty all weekend.  I won't go into details, but this afternoon, there was a lesion and grossness and momma poured hydrogen peroxide on the ouchy, which he was NOT a fan of, and it looks like he may be able to go outside tomorrow.  I hope so...he's making me nuts being inside!

Isn't he so cute?  Little bastard...literally.  He was an abandoned barn cat.

I went to a beautiful pink zebra themed birthday party on Friday evening.  It was the perfect way to end the crazy work week!

Happy birthday, Maleah!

Even the boys thought it was the "best 7-year old's birthday party."  Umm, ok...creepers...

Tiny spoon in the making.

The weather was gorgeous today!  After breakfast...

Ham and cheese and avo and green chiles, oh my!
I cleaned the garage and fertilized the lawn. As I mentioned last week, my neighbor, Craig, has already started mowing.  Being the only female in the neighborhood that takes care of a lawn, I have to show the boys that I know what I'm doing!

Other than that, nothing too exciting this weekend.  :)

How were your weekends?  I hope they were super fabulous!

Have an awesome day!

Friday FUN DAY!

Yeah...I have no idea what that means....but I'm SUPER excited about it! I promise! Jumping out of my skin EXCITED!!!!!

OK, maybe not that excited.  But it's Friday.  And that means I only have eight hours to kill work, and then it's the weekend.

And the weekend holds....

  • A 7-year old's bday party tonight
  • Two hours of work tomorrow (OT is my friend, OT is my friend...)
  • A pasta potluck for my beautiful friend's momma who may not be with us much longer
  • Learning about wine (by tasting, and possibly ingesting)
  • Maybe some yard my neighbor decided to begin the mowing season this evening.  Oh will pay!  Or I will pay and you will do my lawn too?  Hmmm.....

And who knows what other randomness will occur.

But judging by the last couple weekends, I'm going to guess that it's going to be full of goodness and great friends and LOVE!

We shall see...  :)

What sort of plans do you all have?  You're welcome to come here...I have room...and it's guaranteed to be AMAZING!  :)

Have an awesome day!

Are We There Yet?

I'm starting to think that this week may be the death of me.  It's been a long one, full of meetings and stress and dumb people who don't get/don't care about the importance of what we do.

And the weather has been cold and yucky.  There was snow on the ground AGAIN this morning, which I refused to take a photo of because I was protesting.  I told Mother Nature to leave that stuff on the west side of the state.  Clearly she had other plans.

And I've been sick and whiny (can you tell??).

And I'm back on the sugar...and so very disappointed with myself.  I was off for over three weeks.  I thought I was golden.  But soft chocolate chip cookies and Hershey's kisses have once again taken over my taste buds.  And I digress...

BUT, good news.  Last night as I was getting situated in my pre-heated fantastic warmness of a bed (I LOVE electric blankets!), this guys was being all cuddly and lovey and wanted to play...always makes me smile!

And this was on the menu for dinner last night...ALWAYS makes my taste buds and tummy happy!

And now that the meetings are finished and the client flies out this afternoon, work will hopefully settle back into a resemblance of chaos that is normal, not borderline out of control.

And tomorrow is Friday...the weekend is almost here.  We can do this!!

How have your weeks been?  I promise next week there will be far less whining on this blog!  :)

Have an awesome day!

From the Infirmary

Ugh.  It's happened.

This cold that I've been fighting, and thus far successfully beating into submission, has taken hold.  My body is exhausted.  I sneeze.  I produce grossness from my nose.  It's all pretty fascinating really.  OK, not so much.

So tonight, I will take drugs and go to bed slightly earlier than normal and cuddle with the fur-kids and (hopefully) sleep like a baby so that my body can fully recover and I can feel normal (I use that term loosely) again tomorrow.

I hope you all are escaping spring illnesses so far.  OH!  Happy first day of Spring!  :)

Have an awesome day!

Note to Self

Dearest Self:

I just wanted to stop by and chat with you.  Today was a rough one, and I just wanted to remind you that everything is going to be all good.

The meeting tomorrow will go off without a hitch, as it always does, because you freaking ROCK at coordinating meetings.  They will love everything you've done, as they always do.

It's OK that today's Instagram word is Funny and you can't find a damn thing that's humorous about this day.  Tomorrow is a new day with a new word.

It's perfectly acceptable that your run tonight was less than stellar.  Remember when your legs were screaming at you this morning while you lifted?  And that you ran outside two days ago?  Tomorrow is a new day with a new run opportunity.

You're doing really great work, and these little things that you're allowing yourself to stress over are a mask for the bigger issues...and that's OK too.  Even those larger issues will work themselves out with time.

You're doing great work...KEEP IT UP!

I love you!

I *heart* Weekends!

Friends, Goal "Run a 5k" has successfully been completed and marked off the list!  YAHOOO!!!  I'm not going to was tough.  But I ran my little heart out and even with a 500 mph headwind on the way back (no joke, it was ridiculous!), my time was 32 minutes...about a 10 minute mile.  I'm happy with that!

Pre-race was coooold!

My finish line cheering squad...thanks friends!  :)

After the run, well, it was St. Patrick's Day...what's a girl to do, other than drink beer...

Beer #7 for 2012.  I do NOT drink beer.  Blech. some pizza with green yumminess on top...

Wood-fired moz, prosciutto and basil pizza...YUM!
...and drink other scrumptious libation with various greenness to them...

Red chile infused tequila/margarita yumminess

Another group of friends driving through town stopped to say hello today.  We had lunch.  We chatted.  It was long over due and absolutely wonderful!  Thank you Terran!  I'm sad we didn't get any photos though.  Next time!

All in all, another fabulous weekend filled with people I love and good fun times. Over and over again, days like these remind me how lucky I am and that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.  Life is good friends...very very good!

How were your weekends?  What did you do?

Have an awesome day!

Jittery McJitterton

Jitters.  Nerves.  Anxiety.  What in the WORLD is wrong with me?!?

Friends, Saturday is the day I plan to check Goal #2, run a 5k, off the list...and I'm freaking out!  I'm really not sure why.  I run five days a week (on a treadmill, but still).  I did track in high school (don't what if that was 19 years ago...holy goodness...I'm getting old...ugh...but that's a post for a different time.  And I digress.).  I'm in decent why is my mind trying to tell me differently? Silly little brain.

Anyhoo, 10 a.m. Saturday morning, I'll be Running for Ribbons, and despite the questions looming in my head regarding my ability to get 'er done, I'm pretty excited!  It's a great cause and I'm happy to make this my first run!

Cheers to me finishing this bad boy, and maybe even to getting a few more in this season?  Yes, I think that sounds like a great idea!

Have an awesome day!

Thank you...

..Sun, for coming up every day.

...Family...for loving me, even though I'm sure I appear crazy most of the time.

...Mom, for being an incredible sounding board and being supportive of my wishy-washiness.

...Handle, for being the most amazing sister anyone could ever dream of having.

...Friends, for asking questions and pulling me out of the darkness that I was unsure I'd get out of.

...Batman, for encouraging happiness and honesty with self.

...Diesl and Monkey, for being so very excited to see me every single time I come home.

...PNNL, for letting me be an outsider and land in an awesome, secure, great FAMILY!

...Lord, for giving me this amazing day!

Each day, I am thankful for:
Nights that turned into mornings,
Friends that turned into family,
Dreams that turned into reality,
And likes that turned into love.

Have amazing days friends!

So Many Questions, So Little Time

My beautiful friend, Marion, over at Marionberry Style, tagged me today in a "20 Questions" post (although it's really only 11 questions).  I'm so excited to spill my guts to you all!  Thank you, Marion!

The down-low:
You're asked 11 questions.
You answer them.
Then you ask 11 other bloggers 11 new questions.

1. What is the best gift you've ever received?
This one took some thinking.  But the answer: my niece and nephew.  I am so very much in love with them and so very thankful for them!

2. What color best describes you and why?
I would have to go with yellow...for SUNSHINE, of course!  It's such a bright and happy color, and whenever I see it, especially in the bright ball in the sky, it makes me very happy in my heart!

3. Dogs or cats?  Explain your choice.
Both, kind of.  I have a yellow lab named Diesl, and a Siamese cat named Monkey.  I'm more of a dog person, for sure, but I of course love my Monkey.  But the thing I love most about him is that he's more like a dog and plays with Diesl like he's a dog...hence the "Both, kind of" response.  :)

4. What has the ability to make you laugh out loud?
Inside jokes...and then thinking about those those inside jokes days, weeks, months later and still laughing out loud about it.  And then laughing out loud at the fact that you're laughing out loud!

5. What would you order for your last meal?
Abby's pizza, Canadian bacon and beef.  YUM!

6. What color nail polish are you wearing right now?
None.  I don't wear polish on my fingers because it chips too fast and that drives me nuts, so I simply refrain.

7. What are two blogs you think we should know about?
Only two?!?  Oh man...well, besides Marion of course, I'd say you should get to know my friend, Jenn over at a home in the making (she is in the process of doing a room by room redesign of her home, and she has amazing ideas and tutorials and photos of it all!), and Chandra at a stylish little lady (her kind words and beautiful art have lured me into her lovely world!).

8. Which would you prefer and why? A vacation with lots of excitement and go-go-go OR a relaxing vacation centered on recharging the batteries?
Huh...interesting question.  In the past, I've always been the relaxer.  I like to go somewhere tropical, find a beach, pour a drink and enjoy the day/sun/heat/sand/water.  I like to go see stuff, but then I like to go back to the beach.  However, I think as part of this changingness that I'm going through currently, I'm going to become an explorer.  I'm going to get out and do and see and live a little!  There's always time for drinks on the beach, but who knows when you'll have the opportunity to bump into some random person at a random little shop in a place you've never been!

9. What was the name of your first boyfriend?
Does this need to be someone who knew he was my boyfriend?  :)   I think it was Eric, and I was in 6th grade.  He wasn't very nice, and in fact punched me in the arm once.  Jerk.

10. What is your drink of choice on a ladies night out?
I recently stopped drinking liquor, so now the drink of choice is a nice glass of red wine.  However, when I do drink liquor, it's typically a vodka soda lime.  Unless it's summer...then there aren't enough margaritas in the world to cool a steamy night!  :)

11. What is one goal you hope to accomplish for yourself this year?
I have two.  The second one is to run my first 5k.  I will be checking that off the list this Saturday!  YAHOO!
My number one goal is to make myself truly, honestly, COMPLETELY happy, inside and out.  It's a work in progress.  I'm getting there.  :)

8. What is your ideal day?
9. What is one of the silliest things you've ever done?

"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy."
-John Denver

Happy Friday friends!  I hope you all are having magnificent days so far!

My day is AMAZING!  It's going to be 70 degrees today and I can hardly contain myself!  Seriously...every conversation I've had so far today has been in warp excited!  As I told the Facebook world already, today I'm introducing my ankles to 2012 via capris, I had an awesome workout this morning, had a lovely time at coffee, and's just a great day, AND FRIDAY to top it off!

Weekend plans include a couple of runs, maybe a hike, hanging out with the girls, and just general out-and-aboutness.  It's going to be incredible!

What do you all have planned for this weekend?  Whatever it is, I hope it is as splendid as mine will be!

Have an awesome day!

Happy Hump Day!

It's a pretty typical Wednesday evening, friends.  And by typical, I mean not an exciting thing in sight.

Just doing some writing...

A little reading...

Giving this guy a lot of love...

Diesl the lap dog...

And thinking about sleep.

It's an exciting day!

I hope your days were fabulous!

"YEA ME" Moment

Let me start this post by saying that I'm not one who likes to pat myself on the back (too often).  But I realized something the other night and, well, I'm pretty proud of myself and I wanted to share with you!

When my husband and I moved to the Tri Cities two years ago, I came with an attitude that this was an opportunity for a fresh start.  We didn't know anyone, so we were going to make lots of new friends, have a great healthy lifestyle, and enjoy every day that we were here.

Things have changed, life hasn't turned out the way it was supposed to, BUT...I've maintained this attitude!

One of the many things I was focused on was getting back into shape.  I had let myself go, wasn't as active as I needed to be, and did NOT like the person looking back at me in the mirror.

So I decided to make a change!

I joined the local gym and started taking classes and doing more cardio.

Then I added strength training to my workouts.

I had a number in my head that I wanted to see on the scale, and I knew that I could get there with some work...ok, a lot of work.  I had been there before, and being 10 years older now (GULP!), I gave myself a 10 lb "this is a more realistic weight at this age" number.

After a while, I forgot about the number, but remained completely dedicated to getting in shape.  Now I lift four days a week and do some sort of cardio 5-6 days a week.  I'm feeling pretty darn good these days!

But's the proud me moment.  It occurred to me last night that I've reached my "goal weight!"  Two years after setting this goal, and a little over a year of actually doing the work to get here, I'm down 30 lbs, have put some solid muscle back on the frame, and I feel AMAZING!  I am so happy to be back to my "fighting weight" and to just be feeling so stinking GOOD!  YEA ME!  :)

So, thanks for listening.  It was a milestone.  I wanted to share.  Love you all!

Have an awesome day!

Fun Facts

Good morning, my little sunshines!  How is everyone today?

Did you know that on this day in history...

...Bayer patented asprin (1899)

...Michelangelo was born (1475)

...The "death spiral" of Napster began (interesting way to phrase it!) (2001)

...The U.S. started sending Marines to South Vietnam (1965)

Just little tidbits for your brains to munch on this morning.

I hope you all have incredible days!  It's a beautiful sunshiny day here in the Tri Cities.  Bring on Spring!

Have an awesome day!

Glorious Sunday

I haven't been up and ready for nothing special this early on a Sunday in a long time!  Showered and ready to go before 8 a.m.!

And what does this day hold, you might ask?

Writing time with coffee and oatmeal (I brought my own raspberries and yummy!)

It's a gorgeous sunny day today, so if the earth warms up like it's supposed to (64 degrees today!), then maybe a Badger Mt. hike with the boy?

Finish cleaning the house...maybe...

Apparently another iced coffee because I'm still here and it's free!  :)

Probably some soul searching and positive self-affirmations, because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!  (my best Stuart Smalley impression)

Friends, I hope you're able to get out and enjoy this glorious day.  Go hug a friend, hug a dog, do something that brings joy to your day and a smile to your face.  Life is way too short to dwell on things you can't change!

Because this makes me smile...

Have an awesome day!

P.S. What do you think about the new blog layout?  It's still a work in progress...I need to figure out how to add some color, but so far, feedback?  Thanks!  :)
